Game of Thrones' Season 4 Promises 'Bloody Confrontations

The producers of Game of Thrones know what the fans want with Season Four: Dragons, fire, battles and, of
course, another wedding. In a revealing new, 15-minute trailer titled "Ice and Fire: A Foreshadowing," the cast and crew confirm all the conflict and power plays everyone is expecting when the show returns April 6th. But they're also promising a more exciting season than the one that ended with the brutal Red Wedding.

Judging from the trailer's clips, the blood that is spilt matters as much as the blood that ties families together. Tyrion Lannister must rely on his sister Cersei more. Jon Snow and Sam Tarly must stick together to survive and finally enjoy an equal playing field. The arrival of new character Oberyn Martell, who walks with his hand over candle flames without flinching, says he came for the wedding, but in a very foreboding way. "The Lannisters aren't the only ones who pay their debts," says Martell, played by Pedro Pascal.

Elsewhere, Daenerys Targaryen's dragons are growing up quick and are at the age where they look equally cute and dangerous; moreover, she must figure out her role as a leader as she sits atop her own throne in what actress Emilia Clarke described as her "tropical" throne room. And, of course, King Joffrey Baratheon, the new proprietor of the Iron Throne, gets his own Purple Wedding as he marries Margaery Tyrell. "I find it very hard that I would have a wedding ceremony replicated like that again in my career," actress Natalie Dormer said in the clip.

To add some fun to the games, the featurette also fields questions from fans to the actors. They discuss topics ranging from the weirdest things they've had to do on set to saddest character death so far. But what sticks out most is this promise from executive producer, writer and director David Benioff: "Some of the most shocking and mind-blowing scenes of the entire series come at the end of this season. There are some very bloody confrontations." Game on!
